My little sister well ok shes 18 but shes still my little sister and in her last job she was badly bullied by the sub-manager and after alot of complaints by other staff members she was let go because of this. Now my sister has moved on and got a new job in a cafe she was so happy there but they have just hired that sub-manager and the lady has hounded and bullied her all day giving her abuse telling her she is useless and kept her behind half an hour. What can she do? Where does she stand? Please give me some help she has learning difficulities life has been so hard for her and she finally was doing really well at work.Hey guys i need some advice on where someone stands if they are being bullied at work?
Why don't you ring the manager and have a quiet word in his/her ear about this sub manager. Tell him that their is employment law to protect people from being bullied and harrassed and that your sister because of her age and previous learning difficulties is trying to build confidence in an adult world but this sub manager is frightening her. Ask if the sub manager has had people management skills or holds any qualifications to be a manager.
Failing that look at the acas website and print off what the terminology is for bullying and give it to the sub manager just state that anymore unfair treatment and you will log a case for a tribunal hearing for discrimination lay it on thick if you have to.
Or, get a group of your friends to go into the cafe and belittle this sub manager in front of people and see how she likes it. Thats what i would do but then I'm known to be a ***** at times lol.Hey guys i need some advice on where someone stands if they are being bullied at work?
most employers have a bullying policy in place...so she should complain to the HR department and talk about what's going on... if she works in a small place then just go to the next supervisor up -
either way she should do something now before it gets worse...
hope it gets sorted out soon
tc
take your complaint to the hr dept at head office try to get statements from previous employees at her last place of work to back your case, if this does not work then give her a glasgow kiss or 2
she needs to keep a diary and also get witnesses-when you have these go straight to the top (ensure you keep copies of everything) x
I would start by putting the managers jaw over the other side of her face
Go higher up the food chain,Tell the boss of the sub manager what has and is happening.
You probably need to talk to your parents if you can. Your sister deserves the same protection as anyone else she just needs a little help making herself heard.
Someone needs to help her keep a diary of the bullying and approach her boss. Good luck
See your point, I was no way trying to be rude about your parents. You could try the CAB for great advice. Also Consider going with your sister and speak to the manager (she has the right to a 'friend') calmly detail the bullying and if possible get a written account from her previous work mates. Your a great big sis x
the sad thing here in the uk.what people dont know is you have no legal rights against bullying in the work place unless you have worked there for over 12 months companies are like schools they dont like to admit there is bullying going on,as it could leave them open to civil action for the first 12 months if the company wont do anything about it the sad two options are put up with it or leave,in the mean time check out the company policy on bullying as your sister has learning difficuties she can appoint you as her appointee, that gives you the right to talk on her behalf in all legal and non legal matters, this is what you do you go to the doctors and she tells the doctor every thing it is then recorded that she is being bullied at work and it is stressing her out then you go to the area manager or someone above the bully and you lodge a formal complaint in writing most company policies are 3 days to resolve the issue you can be at this meeting normaly you would not be allowed to speak but being a appointee you can,you can take a company to a industrial tibunal for race religion or disability, but not bullying in the first 12 m0nths you can get your sister to join a union the best one for her would be, unite, you must write down every incident, get witness statements and they must be prepared to give evidence.as the bully will not admit being a bully im sorry to say its just not that easy to prove bullying in the work place.anything you need to ask email me
